The IP/DNS optimizer reads your Bookmark files for Internet Explorer and Netscape and pings each server to get the IP address. The IP addresses are saved into a file on your hard drive. Dial-Up Networking will reference this file to translate the "www.anysite.com" into an IP address. Speedy Web Navigator does this to save time. Any time you type in a "www.anysite.com" address, your Dial-Up connection has to send this information to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), your ISP then has to translate it for you and send the info back to your computer. This causes a waste of time while your computer waits for the translation to come back to it. Since Speedy Web Navigator has already translated the information for you and placed it on your hard drive, you internet connection will access the information there. This is faster than having your ISP translate it for you!
A good thing that couldn't be left out. The Dial-Up Optimizer in Speedy Web Navigator enhances Dial Up Networking in both Windows 95 and 98. Our program reads the MTU, RWIN, and TTL specifications in the Windows Registry settings and provides settings for Optimal performance. Also, there are MTU Auto Discover and MTU Black Hole Detect for those servers on the net that don't agree with the settings. Windows 98 has optimum settings for its MTU, but doesn't have the settings for RWIN and TTL. This is where Speedy Web Navigator comes in and enhances Windows 98 even further!
NOTE: Our program is designed to block externally linked banners and not banners generated from the same website address you have surfed into. External sites generate millions of banners on the net at the same time which can slow down the page you have surfed into. Also, banners are only blocked that appear in our database included with the program.

Speedy Web Navigator had to be put to the test to prove the increase in speed all the features contribute. The results generated by ourselves and other testers of the program show the average results in the chart below!
Three computers (Two with Windows 95 and one with Windows 98) with different modems were used in the testing. One PC used Internet Explorer and the two others had different versions of Netscape. Three different people at different locations performed the testing. We chose to download a 340K Text file and a 225K Graphic file where all computers accessed the same server for the files. These downloads were performed 25 times each, before and after, to get an overall idea of the speed increase unlike other programs on the net that show their two best case vs two worst case scenarios to show their speed increase. Before conditions existed of computers as they were with no pre-arranged modifying of the systems. After conditions are Speedy Web Navigator installed on each computer and run at Optimal settings.
The speed tests show primarily the increase in speed just from the Dial-Up Optimizer feature. The IP/DNS Optimizer increases your speed on the net mostly from the initial click on your bookmarks. We have found that without the IP/DNS Optimizer, it can take up to 5 seconds for your Internet Service Provider to translate the WWW address to an IP number before a web page starts loading. Since Speedy Web Navigator translates the WWW address to an IP off your hard drive, the web pages will start loading much faster from the initial click!
Our testers with Netscape kept a record of some of the download bps during the tests. The 33K modems saw an average of 4.8Kbps during Before tests while downloading the text file. They noted after Speedy Web Navigator was installed, the average bps increased to 5.3Kbps while downloading the Text file. The Graphic download for the 33K modems saw a Before average of 2.9Kbps go to a 3.4Kbps average after Speedy Web Navigator was installed. These tests clearly show the improvement our program makes!
